His primary research interests revolve around the interplay between violence and political development, a theme which he has sought to pursue in different contexts. In partnership with ISPI, Italy's leading Institute for International Political Studies, he took part in a fieldwork project in Kosovo, and while in Oxford, he focussed largely on post-2011 Egypt and graduated with a thesis on the evolution of Egypt's student movement in the violent context that followed Mubarak's fall.
Leonardo will be working with CERAC to carry out research on the interlink between violence and Colombia's domestic politics.
